Rabbi Dovid M. Cohen is a Senior Relationship Officer at YACHAD, a thriving global organization dedicated to addressing the needs of all Jewish individuals with disabilities and ensuring their inclusion in every aspect of Jewish life. He concurrently serves as the Rabbi of Congregation Ohr Torah in North Woodmere, NY, where he is rejuvenating the shul founded by Rabbi Theodore & Esther Jungreis z’l in the 1960’s. Rabbi Cohen has served for many years as a Dayan (rabbinical judge) for the Beis Din of America. He studied in both Yeshiva University & the Mir Yeshiva.
His rabbinical career has included serving pulpits on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and Fair Lawn, NJ. He has a law degree from Columbia Law School and a Masters degree in Family Therapy from the University of North Texas with a concentration in couple dynamics. He has also done intensive course work at the Columbia Business School, the Tikvah Fund in NYC and Yad Vashem.
He maintains a small therapy practice in the 5 Towns area.
He is the author of the book “We’re Almost There: Living with Patience, Perseverance and Purpose,” published by Mosaica Press in 2016, presenting a vision and pathway for confronting life’s challenges. He is also a popular columnist for Mishpacha, Ami and Jewish Action magazines.
Rabbi Cohen is a dynamic scholar in residence often speaking on Sukkos and Pesach programs as well as special weekends during the year.
He lives in North Woodmere with his wife Ruchi, the daughter of the Chief Rabbi Emeritus of Vienna, Austria. Ruchi is a Certified Nurse Midwife in private practice in Queens and affiliated with Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital. The Cohen’s have 5 incredible and rambunctious children, Yedidya (14), Anaelle (13), Meir Simcha (11), Aharon (8) and Malachi (3).
